Greetings & Welcome to the “The Gores”
Kathryn and I are excited to present to you our latest creation, thegores.org. We hope that this website and newsletter will be helpful to you in growing your walk with Christ. We plan on using this website to put forth teachings that will help you understand who God is. In hopes of helping you understand your relationship with Him. As you become stronger in Him this will cause you to strengthen your Biblical knowledge by default. We live in a day and an age right now where many people do not know the Bible. Hence our sight moto: “THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH AND DWELT AMONG US!”
We have come to find in our experience that the Bible is the key to maintaining a beautiful, fulfilling relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. There are going to be many things that will come and hit you in life, such as traumas, tragedies and just life in general.
Matthew 16: 13 – 20 (NKJV)
13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” 14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.
We have found that as you are rooted and grounded in the rock of Jesus Christ, as you are rooted and grounded in His Word, you will find the stability that you need in order to grow into the mission and purpose that God has created your for as His son or daughter.
This is one of my favorite hymns.
My Hope is Built on Nothing Less – by Edward Mote
To Listen – Click Here
Verse 1 My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus' name.
Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand:
all other ground is sinking sand;
all other ground is sinking sand.
Verse 2 When darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace;
in every high and stormy gale,
my anchor holds within the veil. [Refrain]
Verse 3 His oath, his covenant, his blood,
support me in the whelming flood;
when all around my soul gives way,
he then is all my hope and stay. [Refrain]
Verse 4 When he shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in him be found:
dressed in his righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne. [Refrain]
Unlike modern praise and worship writers, the lyrics are filled with scriptural truths that will help you remember the Bible.
(Verse 1)1 Peter 1: 3 – 6 (NKJV) A Heavenly Inheritance
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,
(Refrain) Matthew 7: 24 – 29 Build on the Rock
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” 28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, 29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
(Verse 2) Psalm 62: 5 – 7 (NKJV)
5 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.
(Verse 3) Deuteronomy 7: 6 – 9 (NKJV)
6 “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. 7 The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8 but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
(Verse 4) I Corinthians 15: 50 – 58 (NKJV)
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory? 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Can you feel the connection to Him through these scriptures. Our God is powerful. He is the Most-High God. There is nothing like being in relationship with Him. He knows your inner most thoughts. He made you to be alive in this time period.
In Closing, many people carry a religious spirit, meaning they're focused on the rituals, they're focused on the practices, they're not really focused on having a one-on-one relationship with their Heavenly Father. We encourage you to not be religious but have relationship.
Many people that we talk to cannot identify why they are saved, how they became saved, and what are the necessary requirements to maintain that relationship with the Lord. It is our hope, our goal, that this website will help you be able to answer these key questions. We want you to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. We have found that one thing will keep the religious spirit away from you. That is constantly realizing that you are sick and in need of a savior. We know we need Jesus.
Mark 2: 13 – 17 (NKJV)
13 Then He went out again by the sea; and all the multitude came to Him, and He taught them. 14 As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.
15 Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. 16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”
17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
The religious spirit will convince you that you don’t need God. The religious will you that you are well and able to do everything on your own. Jesus consistently bypasses those with the religious spirit and goes after those who are sick and in need. We need Jesus. We hope that thegores.org will help you see your need for Jesus and in the days ahead you will answer the challenge that we have placed before you… “Be a true disciple of Jesus Christ”.
Please share this website and newsletter with all of your friends.
On behalf of Kathryn and myself, welcome and thank you for participating with us in this venture.
